Installation
Installation
Quotio is a native macOS application designed to run in the menu bar. This guide covers system requirements and installation methods.
System Requirements
Before installing, ensure your system meets the following requirements:
- Operating System: macOS Sequoia 15.0 or later.
- Architecture: Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) only. Intel Macs are not supported.
- Disk Space: Approximately 100MB for the application binary.
- Network: An active internet connection is required to communicate with AI provider APIs.
Installation Methods
Manual Download (Recommended)
Currently, the primary way to install Quotio is via the direct download link.
- Download the latest
.dmgfile from the Releases page. - Open the downloaded file
Quotio-x.x.x.dmg. - Drag the Quotio icon into the Applications folder.
- Eject the disk image.
Unsigned Binary
The app is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate yet. If macOS blocks the app, run the following command in your terminal:
xattr -cr /Applications/Quotio.appHomebrew (Coming Soon)
We are working on adding Quotio to Homebrew Cask.
Permissions
Upon first launch, Quotio may request:
- Notifications: To alert you when quota limits are reached or when failover events occur.
Granting this permission is recommended for the best experience.
Verifying Installation
To verify that Quotio has been installed correctly:
- Open Quotio from your Applications folder or via Spotlight (
Cmd + Space). - Look for the Quotio icon in the macOS menu bar (top right of the screen).
- Click the icon to reveal the dropdown menu. You should see a status indicator showing "No accounts configured".
